A woman in her thirties has received a prison sentence after falsely accusing her biological father, who financially supported her overseas education, of rape following his refusal to provide financial aid.
Data from the legal sector on the 1st indicate that the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court's Criminal Division 1, presided by Judge Choi Chi-bong, recently sentenced the woman, identified as A, to a 10-month imprisonment. A faced legal proceedings for her activity of posting 11 defamatory messages on an online forum from May to June of the prior year. These messages were titled "I am a victim of familial sexual violence. Please look at this," and targeted her biological father, B.
In the posts, A falsely alleged, "I have been continuously sexually assaulted by my biological father since I was four," adding that her mother also endured domestic and sexual abuse. She claimed the matter was resolved with 30 million won in damages and called for severe punishment.
Amid these accusations, A disclosed B's real name and business details, reportedly causing operational challenges for B's business.
Furthermore, A posted six statements alleging that B remarried a woman, C, with whom he was purportedly having an affair.

In February 2021, A initiated a lawsuit for damages due to alleged sexual assault against B at the Incheon District Court but was unable to substantiate any unlawful conduct with evidence.
During the criminal proceedings, A maintained the truth of her statements, yet the court, referencing the lawsuit outcome, rejected her claims. The court highlighted the absence of concrete evidence or circumstances supporting A's allegations of habitual sexual assault by B.
Additionally, the court deemed A's accusations as likely false, considering her history of financial support from B during her overseas studies, her return home, and the timing of the rape allegations following B’s refusal to finance her cafe venture.

The court stressed, "She disseminated false information about the victims due to dissatisfaction over financial denial. The reputations harmed cannot be fully restored."
The court elaborated on the sentencing rationale, noting, "Given the high likelihood of recidivism as she continues similar posts post-crime, and the victims' strong appeal for severe punishment, these were key factors considered in the decision."
